André is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and the fourth of five children. He graduated from Georgia State University with a Bachelors Degree in History and a Master’s degree in Education. While a student at Georgia State, A.T. served as a Member of the Student Advisory Council to the Board of Regents to the University System of Georgia, President of the Student Body, and Director of Campus Activities and Programs. In 1999, A.T. was chosen by the National Association for Campus Activities (www.naca.org) as the Southeast Regional Student Leader of the Year.  He also interned for Atlanta City Councilwoman Cathy Woolard, who is now the President of the City Council of Atlanta.

After leaving Georgia State, A.T. entered the Indiana University School of Law at Indianapolis under the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Opportunity (ICLEO) fellowship, a scholarship awarded by the Supreme Court of Indiana.  During his time in law school, A.T. served on The Dean’s Academic Advisory Committee, where he interviewed candidates for professorships and made recommendations to the Dean of the law school about course offerings and class schedules.  He also served as Vice President of the Democratic Law Society and a Representative for the Student Bar Association before receiving his juris doctor degree upon graduation.

While pursuing his law degree at night, A.T. also worked as a full-time high school U.S. History Teacher at Speedway High School in Speedway, Indiana. While employed as an educator, A.T. was an active member of the Speedway Teacher’s Union and the National Educator’s Association.  He was also the sponsor of the Student Government Association.  For his efforts at Speedway High School, A.T. was recognized by the Top Ten Students as Teacher of the Year for two consecutive years. Even before beginning his law career it was clear that A.T. was dedicated to advocating for others.

 A.T. clerked for the Honorable Davidson Momah, Administrative Law Judge of the Equal Opportunity Employment Commission and interned for The Law Offices of Robert Wesley the Public Defender of the Ninth Judicial Circuit.  AT also clerked for the Law Offices of Shapiro and Kauffman, P.A in Orlando Florida, a firm specializing in Accident and Personal Injury Law. Through these experiences A.T. has had in-depth exposure to Employment and Employment Discrimination Law, Criminal Law as well as Accident and Personal Injury Law.
