How much is my case worth?
At Young, Simmons & Burt, LLC, we examine all of the conditions surrounding your personal injury case to arrive at a monetary figure that we believe the insurance company must pay for your injuries. These conditions include, but are not limited to:
- How the accident happened and who was at fault;
- What injuries were suffered;
- Past and future medical bills;
- Past lost wages as well as a loss of earning capacity in the future; and
- Pain and suffering.
Although there is no exact formula to determine the value of a case, our attorneys study every detail so we can get you the money you deserve for your personal injuries.
How long will it take to resolve my case?
Cases can takes anywhere from 3 months to several years to resolve, depending upon their complexity, the evidence collected, and the severity of the injuries. Typically, we do not advise settlement until your treating physician has advised that you have reached “maximum medical improvement.” Maximum medical improvement is reached when your physician concludes a plateau in the healing process has been achieved, and he expects you will not improve with further medical treatment.
In other words, when you have received almost all necessary medical treatment for your injuries, we can have your doctor estimate future medical expenses. Settlement can take time because it is necessary to negotiate with the insurance company or at-fault party. Also, we will need to demonstrate that you are prepared to take your claims to court if necessary and that you will not jump at initial lower offers of settlement.
